Are you ready for medical school?
Let us help. Glia Pre-Med Advising is based around the idea that medical school admissions is a rapidly changing landscape—and we’re at the forefront. An application from 20 years ago wouldn’t stand a chance today, meaning old perspectives are no longer valid. As current medical students, we offer fresh and unique ideas on how to tackle the modern admissions game and help you become the physician you’re meant to be.
Quick tips for success
-
Work on crafting a theme. Your activities and personal statement should revolve around a central idea to make you stand out. For example, if you TA’d classes and volunteered to teach elementary school students science, you could relate education and medicine in your essays.
-
Don’t check boxes. Do activities that you are passionate about. It will make you stand out and shine through in the way you write essays and speak during interviews.
-
Work on your personal statement early. Try out multiple drafts. When you get an idea, no matter where you are, take out your phone and write down your thoughts without worrying about grammar. It’s worth the time because this is one of the core parts of your application.
